Pornhub has returned to Australia, ending an eight-month absence caused by new age-verification regulations. The decision, announced by parent company Aylo, once again allows access to the site, but with a specific condition: it is reserved exclusively for adult users who own Apple devices and have completed the age-verification process integrated into the operating system.
The return follows Apple's introduction of new age checks in Australia, a step the Cupertino giant took after a similar rollout in the United Kingdom. Aylo explained that this device-based verification method represents the most effective and privacy-respecting standard, as it eliminates the need for adults to share sensitive personal data with multiple apps or websites.
The strategy also aims to reduce the effectiveness of VPNs, which are commonly used to bypass geographic filters. With devices set by default to minor-safety features, verified adults can now enjoy a standard experience, while children remain protected from inappropriate content without users having to sacrifice their privacy.
