The US-based startup Devin has opened pre-orders for its $249 vibrator, a device distinguished by its integration of hardware and artificial intelligence. Unlike connected toys that passively follow content, Devin promises to function in the reverse direction: thanks to built-in sensors, the device reads the user's arousal and adapts in real time both the vibration intensity and the AI-generated erotic narrative. The business model aims to turn the hardware into an entry point for a subscription service, combining romance tech with the profitability of the vibrator industry.
The device, made of medical-grade silicone, offers dual action (clitoral and G-spot) with five intensity levels. The company, founded in December 2025 and funded with $1.5 million, acquired startup Piffle to strengthen its narrative component. Pre-orders are currently free of charge, with billing to occur at the time of shipment, scheduled for 2027. The company has already sold 1,000 prototypes and is testing the device with a group of women.
The main challenge concerns privacy: arousal data is highly sensitive. CEO Morgan Hewett stated that data storage will take place on the phone and the device to reduce the risk of hacking, but acknowledged that data management policies are not yet finalized. Industry experts recommend treating the biofeedback feature as a roadmap item until it has been independently tested.
