Crunchyroll has announced that the Overgeared anime, based on the Korean webtoon by REDICE STUDIO, will receive an English dub released on the same day as its Japanese premiere, September 27. This decision aims to provide Western fans with a simultaneous viewing experience, reducing the typical wait between the Japanese release and the dubbed version.
The series, produced by EGG FIRM and directed by Ayako Kōno, follows Youngwoo Shin, an unemployed man who becomes Grid, a mediocre warrior in the VR game Satisfy, who discovers a tome containing the knowledge of a legendary blacksmith. His level is reset, and he must rebuild his character by gathering allies and divine-tier equipment.
The anime debuts on Tokyo MX and BS11 channels on October 2 at 11:30 PM (10:30 AM EDT). The webtoon is available in English through Yen Press and digitally on Tapas. The film will also be screened in US and Canadian theaters with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
