The anticipation for the anime adaptation of 'Kekkaishi no Ichirinka' (Bride of the Barrier Master) is becoming more concrete. The series' official website has released a second promotional teaser and a third visual, accompanied by the announcement of five new voice cast members. The production, based on Kureha's light novel with illustrations by Bodax, promises a mix of magic, romance, and family intrigue in a Japan protected by five clans of barrier masters.
The plot follows Hana Ichise, the daughter of a minor family within one of these clans, who hides her powerful abilities to live a quiet life away from the spotlight. Her balance is disrupted when Saku Ichinomiya, the new head of the powerful Ichinomiya clan, seeks a worthy bride and sets his eyes on her. The series is directed by Toru Kitahata at studio TROYCA, with the screenplay written by Yuko Kakihara.
Regarding the release, the anime will debut in Japan in January 2027. International fans will be able to follow it via streaming on Netflix, which has acquired the rights for global distribution. The original light novel was published by Kadokawa Bunko, while Odayaka's manga version is available in English through J-Novel Club.
