The Lollipop Chainsaw saga is preparing to cross the boundaries of the digital screen. During the Tokyo Game Show, Nada Holdings and Dragami Games officially announced the franchise's adaptation into a live-action film. Described as a "Hollywood-style" production, the project aims to reach a global cinematic audience and is distinctly separate from the anime adaptation already in development.
The production is entrusted to prominent industry names: Kirk Shaw, former associate producer of The Hurt Locker, and Robert Franke, former Vice President of ZDF Studios, are working alongside Joe Teng, founder of Nada Holdings. The goal is to create a narrative experience that captures the essence of the original franchise, bringing its unique aesthetic to the big screen in a completely new guise.
This move is part of a broader strategy for the franchise, which also includes the release of Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back on PlayStation 5 in 2027. The new video game chapter will be directed by Hajime Tabata, who previously led Final Fantasy XV, with the screenplay written by Masahiro Yuki, the creator of the original work.
