City Connection has officially announced the release of 'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Mahjong Remaster', an HD version of the classic dramatic mahjong game originally released in 2009 for arcades and handheld devices. The title is scheduled for 2027 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, bringing the eerie atmosphere of the renowned series into a new gaming context.
The remaster promises to elevate the visual experience with a total of 7,000 animations and an original scenario supervised by 07th Expansion, the original author of the saga. Players will be able to relive intense mahjong matches, where every move counts and the fates of the characters are tied to the outcome of the confrontations, keeping intact the mystery that made the series famous.
To celebrate the announcement, the game will be present at Tokyo Game Show 2026 with a playable demo at City Connection's booth. Those who try the title during the event will receive an exclusive sticker styled after mahjong tiles. The store page on Steam is already open, allowing those interested to add the title to their wishlist in anticipation of the launch.
