Game Freak, the studio renowned for the Pokémon series, has officially announced its new mobile project: Ame no Chi Hare Onna. Developed in collaboration with CHRONOGATE and directed by Shigeru Ohmori, the title is scheduled for release in winter 2026, exclusively in Japan, on Android and iOS. The game departs from the studio’s classic role-playing formula, focusing instead on an anime aesthetic and a lighter, cuter concept.
The story follows Hare Onna, a magical girl who uses the surrounding weather as a source of power to bring happiness to people. A distinctive gameplay element is the use of real-time meteorological data: the actual weather modifies and enhances the protagonists’ abilities during missions. For example, sunny or rainy days can influence the characters’ magical capabilities, creating a dynamic experience tied to the real world.
The voice cast includes Hiyori Kono for the protagonist and Yuki Nagano as Kumorin, the divine messenger who accompanies the heroine. The characters were designed by Aki Minamino and Kyoko Abe. Additionally, the game introduces an outfit management element: the characters’ clothes get dirty and must be washed and hung out to dry, a process that is accelerated by sunlight. Further details and a demo will be presented at Tokyo Game Show 2026, scheduled to take place in Chiba from September 17 to 21.
