Neptunia Unlimited marks the return of one of Japanese gaming's longest-running ecchi franchises, more than a decade after the last numbered entry, Megadimension Neptunia VII, with release set for August 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Compile Heart and published in the West by Idea Factory International, the game brings back Neptune and the other CPUs, Blanc, Vert and Noir, facing an apocalyptic threat that traps the heroine in a time loop capable of replaying and rewriting the events of history. The big new feature this time around is a flight-focused combat system, promising more dynamic, vertical encounters compared to the series' traditional turn-based RPG battles, alongside the introduction of four new goddesses inspired by new hardware platforms, plus brand-new costumes designed by the series' longtime illustrator, Tsunako.

The Neptunia saga has always built its identity on meta humor aimed at the games industry and a CPU cast with markedly ecchi designs, featuring curvier adult transformation forms, elegant yet skimpy outfits and double-entendre jokes, all kept on a light, never explicit register.
