Deepfake: Man behind Nadine Dorries' erotic videos arrested
A 36-year-old man was arrested for creating and sharing AI-generated pornographic clips featuring the former minister and other celebrities. The case is prompting the United Kingdom to tighten its penalties.

Thames Valley Police have arrested a 36-year-old man from Reading, suspected of creating and distributing pornographic deepfake videos featuring former minister Nadine Dorries. The investigation, launched in December 2025, is based on Section 66B of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which criminalizes the sharing of intimate images with the intent to cause humiliation or distress. During the search, authorities seized the suspect's devices, which contained thousands of AI-generated videos and images.

Nadine Dorries, now a member of Reform UK, stated that she was deeply distressed when a police officer informed her of the arrest. The videos, which were realistic and difficult to distinguish from reality, had already been widely shared on social media. The former Culture Secretary, who in 2021 led the passage of the Online Safety Act, emphasized that the technology used makes it nearly impossible to identify fake content at a glance, making the situation particularly humiliating for her and her family.

The case comes amid growing attention to the abuse of AI in digital eroticism. Recently, the authoritative regulator Ofcom launched an investigation into X following the explosion of sexualized images generated by Grok, while politician Jess Asato sued xAI for allowing the creation of unwanted bikini photos. These events highlight how technology is redefining the boundaries between fiction and reality in the world of digital eroticism.
